GLACIER CAMERA CLUB

Next Meeting
Our next meeting will be at the Pin & Cue Bowling Alley in Whitefish, MT. at 6:30PM Thursday, December 9 2004. We will have a show and tell.

Christmas Party
December is our Christmas Party meeting and this is how it works. Each of us looks through our camera stuff. We pick out things we no longer need but think someone else might want. Mostly stuff like old Hasselblads, Leicas, Linhofs, Nikons and other relics from before the age of digits, then we wrap them for a gift exchange. Jesse does the rest so itıs simple and fun.

Meeting Night and Place
Our club has met the same day, time, and place for a very long time now, and Iım sure nobody wants to change any of our old habits. The last couple months our room has become very noisy and a change in our meeting night or perhaps to a new place might be worth considering. Myrna is going to talk to the Pin & Cue owners to see if they have a solution to our problem and Iım sure it will be solved. It might not hurt, however, if we had some alternative venues available to us. If any of you have suggestions, please let me know. We will be alone at the Dec. meeting.

One new thing they are doing at the Pin & Cue is adding a 15% gratuity to your bill. This is a new policy for any party of 6 or more.

Web Site
The Glacier Camera Club web site has been getting a surprising no. of hits lately. The problem, there is nothing from the Club on the site. As far as I know, the site can handle a lot more content and it is easy to post your pictures to the site. Until somebody does nobody will know how well itıs going to work or what changes need to be made. I have enjoyed the extra exposure my work has been getting and I see no reason why other club members should hesitate. Both Adele and Trevon can put your pictures on the site. They both charge modest rates for their labor but the results are very nice. Jpeg files saved for the web seem to work best and you can send them email or on a CD.

Gallery Opening
I am hoping to open the Gallery in December. So far that is all I know. Myrna is checking to see if we can obtain Ken Goodıs prints for the opening show. I still need to have another guest photographer to open simultaneously with Ken. A couple of you expressed an interest, but I need to firm up the whoıs and when. If you are interested in showing at the Gallery please let me know. I will be happy to put you in line. The new lights will be here soon and when they arrive I will call a few club members to help me get some dividers in place and lights up and nails in the wall. When that is done we can hang the show and have a party.

We need a name for "The Gallery" so please help me with that too.

Garyıs Prints
There are times in my life when I donıt know if Iım happy or sad. My friend Gary is making some of the nicest photographs I have ever seen. We go on picture taking safaris together and he spends most of his time helping me. In the few spare minutes he has of his own he shoots great things and makes me wonder why Iım even trying to be a photographer. George does that too but George has been an excellent photographer for many years and I expect to take second to him. Now Gary on the other hand has practically never shot film and is pretty new to any kind of picture taking. He either has a natural instinct for photography or he is reincarnation of Ansel Adams. He specializes in stitching as many as 6 frames together to make one print. They are always beautifully done with immaculate compositions. If I thought it was just his equipment I would go digital in an instant. I suspect it is more of a talent thing and therefore I am going to stick with film so I wonıt have to compete.
