GLACIER CAMERA CLUB

Next Meeting

Our next meeting will be at the Pin & Cue Bowling Alley in Whitefish, MT. at 6:30PM Thursday, January 13th, 2011. Welcome to the new members to Camera Club and Happy New Year to all! If you know someone that loves photography invite them to our meetings. Part of why I like our club is that it is a free formed group. No rules, dues, or strict guidelines, just people that share in a common theme of photography and getting outdoors. Everyone is encouraged to bring in digital images to show at our slideshow, either on a thumb drive or CD. The images should be .jpg format and only need to be 1000 pixels wide or tall, with 60-70% compression. Since it is just a computer slideshow, high resolution is not needed to see the beauty in your shots. If you are into video bring a sample of that too.

Minutes from August by Adele Scholl.

Jeff and I started off the slideshow with a few shots of the Big Mountain from the Helicam, a few shots of our Husky dog Mabliene and a few shots of Jeff and his ship. Opening day on the Big Mountain this year was filled with more snow then usual, as well as a dramatic inversion. On top of the beautiful cloudy inversion, sun dogs were seen about halfway down the mountain. We did get to experience the sun dogs, but did not get to view the fata morgana mirage. If you have never seen it up on the Big Mountain it is truely incredible.
Bruce brought a few shots in the camera club of Flathead Lake. A nice sunrise shot, a shot of the Somers Bay and a fun panoramic of the Swan Mountains. My favorite was his panoramic shot of the lake.
Dee brought some amazing shots from last summer to show the club. She presented some nice shots from the Eastern side of the mountains, a baby owl that she found and shots from her hike into the China Wall in the Bob. I have always wanted to go to the China Wall. I have flown over it but never have made the journey in. After seeing Dee's shots I want to go even more. They were outstanding. I was surprised at the number of people that were there at the lookout that over looks it.
Kevin followed up the show with a few snowy shots. A great shot of Coal Creek on the North Fork, a shot of his Malmute running, some band shots and a few shots from his newly setup studio. Living in Montana, good live music is well can I saw hard to come by. I really enjoy Kevin's shots that he does of some of the local musicians. My favorite of this weeks shots is seen here. This band added some lazer effects to their show.
Steven Mitchell finished off the show with shots of the Bigfork Football game. His shots captured a lot of feeling in them. Show the close score and the determination of the Bigfork team. With a 1:12 minutes left in the game Bigfork was down by 4 points. In the last 12 seconds they were able to come up with a score and win the championship! Great job on the photos and great job to the Bigfork team.

Check it out, the winter solstice lunar eclipse of 2010. This is a 4 hour time-lapse montage as seen from Wolf Creek bridge on the Missouri River, MT. Prints are available. Info: email chad@chadtrettin.com

Some great views from the space station ...... http://triggerpit.com/2010/11/22/incredible-pics-nasa-astronaut-wheelock/

"On September 22, 2010, with the departure of the Expedition 23 crew, Colonel Douglas H. Wheelock assumed command of the International Space Station and the Expedition 25 crew. He is also known as @Astro_Wheels on twitter, where he has been tweeting pictures to his followers since he arrived at the space station. The images bring breathtaking views from our only off planet Vista point. The following pictures are all visible on Astro_Wheels’ twitpic account and for these we are eternally grateful to him for sharing these with the world. The captions are all his own words."
