Next Meeting
Our next meeting will be at the Pin & Cue Bowling Alley in Whitefish, MT. At 6:30PM Thursday, February 9, 2006.
WOW SUPER WOW
What did you think of the pictures that I emailed to you a few days ago? They were the best pictures I have ever seen. I wish I knew who took them. In my opinion they were as close to perfect as any can be. I like looking at good pictures and bad pictures, but I love looking at great pictures.
Minutes from our January meeting
Our January meeting was interesting and informative thanks to a very nice presentation by Gene Grove. Gene’s photography is truly outstanding in every way and he is just as nice a fellow as his pictures are great. Gene gave me a beautiful book of his photos in which he not only has fine pictures but also tells us about his equipment and techniques. It is also interesting and informative and all of you should own one.
Thanks Gene.
Gene was great but not alone. Tom Needham had some nice frost shots from around Somers.
Adele gave us a birds Eye view of a world only she and Jeff can see. Their work is unique and very well done.
Steve and Becca are two people who enjoy photography in different ways. Steve shoots wild life and bunnies while Becca likes landscapes. Both showed us some nice photos.
Joe who is my favorite photographer this month spends more time on the road than home. He travels to the far reaches of the Earth just so that we can enjoy his hard work from the comfort of The Pin & Cue. Without Joe most of us would never see anything outside of Flathead County.
Where have I been lately?
My friend Vern Ingraham and I made a trip to Phoenix to visit a bunch of my classmates and eat a great meal from the kitchen of a world famous chef Jim Reed. Jim is as good of a chef as Myrna is a photographer. We all really enjoyed visiting and eating.
On our way we stopped at Salt Lake City to visit my big print color lab. Spiro Nichols gave us a tour of his twenty thousand square foot facility. We saw prints that were about 4 by 10 foot made from 6X7 negatives. They really looked good. They print on every type of paper and canvas and always with excellent results. Their prices are very reasonable they are extremely interested in doing the kind of printing that you want to see.
If you are interested in big prints or having big film processed here is the contact information. They like most Labs also print direct from your digital images.

Vern and I also stopped at Monument Valley on the way down. The skies were overcast and my pictures were a bit on the gloomy side. The Navajo Tacos at Goulding easily made up for my lack of productivity. They are yummy and next time you visit the valley I suggest you try them. The weather cleared up on day two. No clouds at all. Now my pictures were boring.
The best part of this trip to the valley was meeting and having dinner with Jay Dickman, who was on assignment for National Geographic. He was a very interesting fellow. His web site is: www.firstlightworkshops.com
It is a long way from here to Phoenix. I’ve made this trip several times and it get farther each trip. Vern did most of the driving so it was pretty relaxing for me and our trip home was uneventful.
I met Steve at Drummond, picked up a big bunch of paper then a Fuddruckers in Missoula then home Burgered out and happy
Platinum Palladium Prints
My friend Jim is not only a great chef but he is a talented Platinum printer. If any of you want a beautiful P/P print, please contact me for details.
WEB SITE
Please take a couple extra minutes to look over the CC web site. It is looking good and gaining in popularity. We still have room for more members so please contact Adele today.
344 GALLERY
Our current featured artist is Mike Spence. He has both B/W prints and some very nice color ink jet photographs. One of these days I hope to get in and clean up the Gallery. Most of the stuff I hung, I just grabbed the easiest things I could find. I’m sure I can do a better job of displaying our work. Please stop in when you are in Kalispell or when friends come to visit.
Trevon Baker
Both Myrna and I have talked with Trevon about a Photoshop class. He will do a day class for $350.00. If any of you are interested please let me know by email. My guess is that 10 would be the limit.
