GLACIER CAMERA CLUB

Next Meeting

Our next meeting will be at the Pin & Cue Bowling Alley in Whitefish, MT. at 6:30PM Thursday, May 12th, 2011.

Minutes from August by Adele Scholl. Last month was my first time to camera club with our new meeting room at Pin & Cue. After working some kinks out of where to put things the meeting went off without a hitch. Thanks to everyone that was a part of the meeting. Was a fun show.

Betty Jo and Jesse started off the meeting with some very nice pictures from Glacier National Park and some visitors to their yard. They made it to Lake McDonald on what looked like one of the only sunny winter days we had last winter. The white peaks glowing from all the snow. They showed images of MT Brown lookout, and some nice Lake McD reflection shots. My favorite are these two, one Lake McDonald reflection and one of Mt Brown in it's glory.
Bob Howard showed the club some of his nice finds that he discovered with a metal detector. He also showed the club an image of owl that had a fresh bird for dinner. My favorite was one his nice finds images. A real day treasure hunt had some nice results.
Carlos showed the club some his feathered and furry friends. Presenting hummingbirds, grouse, mountain goats. His show continued with some amazing sunrise shots over Flathead Lake. Closing his show with some Photoshop work. He placed some boats into a beach scene. Reminding me that we have not had a Photoshop session at camera club in a while. I have finally made the jump to CS5 and really enjoy content aware fill. It is amazing. CS 5.5 is coming out the 2nd week of May.
Dee Blank always dazzles the club when she brings in images to show. She also hikes all over to remote places in our state. She showed the club some images from the China Wall. A hike that is on my to do list. She also showed some hockey shots, pictures from the spring field trip to Wild Horse Island. She finished off her show with some incredible wildflower shots. I can not remember the range that she discovered with all these amazing flowers, but she really knows how to capture them. She had so many nice shots hard to pic just a few. I picked a few from the Wildhorse Island trip. Also one of our friend George rowing on the North Fork.

Hard to follow Dee's show. Jeff and I showed some pictures from Autumn Creek ski trail in the park. One of my favorite skis, huge towering mountains and a trail that goes all downhill, my kind of cross country day. In March we traveled down to Colorado for our yearly trip. This year we did some work in Telluride. I have never been to Tride but definitely feel in love with it's charm. The people, the town the mountains, all amazing. The price to live there is a little insane, however. We stayed in a small 3 BR older home in town, it was for sale for 1.6 million.
Karen showed the club some nice images from the East side of the park. Looks like she made it to Running Eagle when the water was coming over the top and the center of the falls in the fall time. Every time I go there, I am captured by this mystical place. My favorite image of her was this sunrise/sunset shot from the park. Really nice.
I am glad that Steven Mitchell had some time and patience last month. He presented some amazing images of water drops. Creating the backdrop in color, he told us that he took a lot of shots and it was very hard to get the water drops to land at the perfect time with the camera shutter. He also showed some really nice smoke shots, sunset of Flathead and some licen pics. My favorite were once again hard to pic. I chose a few to the right.
