Next Meeting
Our next meeting will be at the Pin & Cue Bowling Alley in Whitefish, MT. at 6:30PM Thursday, June 14th.
Minutes from May
Adele really presented us with a nice program on her latest trip to New Zealand. New Zealand is such a beautiful place with so many fun things to do. Her great photos and enlightening narration really made me want to go there. Her photographs of Queenstown, the Southern Alps, Milfred Sound and other spectacular places down under were especially interesting for me. I made an unforgettable trip there myself a long time ago. When I was there it was one of the most beautiful places I had ever been with some of the most laid back people on Earth.
She also brought us some wonderful pictures from Freeze-out Lake. Is there anybody in our club who has not been to Freeze-out Lake?
Steve and Becca Rapelje covered Woodland Park and got some fun photos of ducks and dummies. Jane Timmerman did some really outstanding work on the East Side. Larry Dears found some incredible flower shots and had some fun at the Bison Range. Larry Stolte also enjoyed the Bison Range and found some nice creeks to photograph.
Who remembers Burma Shave? In our club I guess most of us do but Lyle reminded us in a very artistic way of all the old Burma Shave signs that used to populate the old two lane highways of the USA. Lyle is a really great photographer; so far he has not brought a bad picture to the club. Thanks Lyle. Nick, who is always great, really did some nice work in Woodland Park.
Woodland Park is a photo opp. waiting to be taken.
I really enjoyed Roselle's snow shots. They are defined by there simplicity.
Steve Mitchell also got to Freeze-out Lake and did some nice work there as well as getting some nice Wood Pecker and Eagle shots.
Jesse would be my favorite presenter for May. He made a neat History trip Through Montana and Oregon and did some very nice photos along the way. Thanks Jesse.
Storage Space
We now have on site storage for our projection equipment. Gary Harding made us a storage box that holds our computer and both projectors. He purchased the materials and built the cabinet for us free of charge so please give him a pat on the back and a thank you.
News From D
Great Olympus OM Lenses
A friend of Dee Blank's in Helena has some OM lenses that sound really classy that he would like to sell, including a shift lens. If you know someone who might be interested, contact Dee.
Locally made Frames
Walking Man Frame Shop and Gallery in Whitefish has several kinds of frames made right here in our area. There are barnwood frames from Trego and others from Missoula. Frames from RBM in Columbia Falls take advantage of patterns of natural holes in wood and other distinctive natural textures I have never seen in frames before. Beautiful!
Camera Club Web Site
Nothing new, it's up to you. See Adele.
Buffalo Hills Terrace
We still need more volunteers for the Monthly Buffalo Terrace Photo show. Please help; this is the only contact with the outside for many of these people and they really do appreciate our efforts. It's fun and easy so please contact Ed Gilliland for more details.
I need somebody to help out in August.
Schedule:
James Haring is scheduled for June.

OTHER NEWS
I am changing my travel schedule this month. Usually I take my photo trips after camera club, this month I'm leaving the 6th, and will be back on the 14th. My friend Gordy Taylor and I will make a trip to Vancouver Island with the hope of finding something pretty to photograph. I have not been there in a long time and I'm really looking forward to wielding the 8X10 in a new place. I have not used the big camera for a couple years. It will be just my luck to come across some really nifty photo ops and find out when I get home that all the film had gone bad. At $9.00 a sheet I am going to take a chance. If I'm wrong it will be the dumbest thing I've ever done in my whole entire life. I will try to back them up with one of my little cameras. I really wanted to get clear up to the North end of the Island but my limited amount of time will keep me on the South end. I have consulted with D and she says that there is plenty to do down south.
I have penciled the 14th of July for the camera club picnic. Please let me know if you have a major conflict with that date. If not put it on your calendar.
The 344 Gallery
Nick had a nice reception at the gallery. Not as many people came by this time but everyone who did enjoyed some excellent photography. Nick certainly is a talented photographer who does the best wildlife photos I have ever seen. For those of you who missed the first show we have two more coming up. Our gallery is participating in the first Friday Kalispell Art walk so you can still join us the first Friday of July and August. We will take his show down the end of August and hang Shawn Coggins September first.
The Gallery schedule:
Nick Fuci June/July/August
Shawn Coggins September/October/November
John Kyle December/January/February
