Next Meeting

Our next meeting will be at the Pin & Cue Bowling Alley in Whitefish, MT. at 6:30PM Thursday, June 9th, 2011.

Minutes from August by Adele Scholl. Last month I participated on a wilderness raft trip down the Middle Fork of the Salmon. First trip since I had been thrown out of a raft and broke my arm last fall. Needless to say I was scared and terrified for most of the trip. Was really glad that I went had an amazing journey with amazing people. Shortly after the trip, I went to visit my parents in Vegas. Culture shock hit me pretty hard. Just on the flight down there. I had two ladies drunk behind me and people arguing with the flight attendants because they had to check their bags. Once in Vegas, I did get to go to Death Valley. Looking forward to this month's meeting and seeing the images that every one has captured from their journeys.

Last month Jesse and Betty Jo went to the Bison Range. I have never been to the bison range. Hard to believe. They showed images of bison, birds, mountains and much more. Looks like there was a good collection of turtles out on Turtle rock while they were there too. My favorite image was this one of a good ole boy.
Bruce followed up suit with some shots of his neighbors, the Osprey family. He brought a few nice shots of them coming in and out of the nest. This one my favorite cruising over head.
D followed up the show with some incredible images from Avalanche Lake. Now we really know how it got it's name. She hit it just right. Snow pouring down avalanche chutes. Her images captured the feeling of standing there. She even tried her hand at video. Hand held video is a challenge. But seeing the video really captured the essence of the snow coming down.
James followed up the show with some fun images from his travels. He showed images with great textures and patterns, showing graffiti, baby feet and a few abstract shots. My favorite is from the mac store. He said he was playing around waiting for a friend.
Jesse followed up the show with his view from the bison range, some neighbors of theirs, a squirrel and a dove. Apparently the herd of bison were across the river, while they were there. Shortly after they left the group decided to come over closer. None the less looks like they had a fun time and nice pictures to go with their trip. He ended the show with a few in fared shots. I really enjoyed this one.
Jim brought some fun images from lakes. Looks like he a few from Whitefish Lake, Flathead and the Flathead River. He also had a shot of baby foxes that was pretty darn cute. My favorite of his was his first shot. Which to me looks like Lower Valley a couple of guys out for a cruise.
Kevin had his studio set up and brought in some great shots from his studio. Also showed the club some of his fun band shots and close up details of a church. He finished off the show with images of gelled water drops and smoke shots. It blew my mind that he and Steve M shot the same subject a month apart. Fun images, fun coincidence. My favorite shots of his was from Kootnai Falls.
Myrna followed up with some great images from freeze out lake and the bison range. Myrna really can capture that look into the eyes of a critter. She showed turkeys doing their dance, baby yaks and the two tiny bear cubs up in the park. She also had some great wild flower shots. I really enjoyed a lot of her pics. But my favorite was this shot of the three male turkeys lined up. All with the same thing on their mind. Same expression, same angle, all puffed out. Great shot.
Next we saw some up close and wild life shots from Nick. Birds and bunnies seemed to be his theme last month. As usual they also gave you a look into the eye of the critter. Hard to pick just one, but I really enjoyed this framing of the prairie dog.
Rosella brought some really nice black and whites to show the club. She does such nice work with her close ups. She started off her set of pictures with really neat patterns of water. Finishing off the show with a few snowy shots. This one my favorite. Not sure if it is a beaver dam or just debris in the water.
Steve Mitchell brought in some great images last month. It is always fun having him close down the presentation with breath taking shots. He had some water shots, with nice reflections, an owls nest and mom feeding her babies, and a few abstract ones. I really enjoyed his close up shots of flower pedals. But this shot of sunrise over the peaks, won it for me.
