GLACIER CAMERA CLUB

Next Meeting

Our next meeting will be at the Pin & Cue Bowling Alley in Whitefish, MT. At 6:30PM Thursday, August 10th, 2006.

Minutes from July

As is always the case, we enjoyed marvelous picture shows from far away places and at this meeting we got to see how the Vikings lived, worked, and played long before film or cameras were invented. Now that is a trick someone needs to explain to me. I was especially pleased to be able to observe their lives and lifestyles without having to smell the lutefisk. Seems to me like one more good reason to go to camera club where we can eat burgers from a real restaurant, sit at a real table and watch the pictures on the wall.

The photography was as good as it was diverse. Fine mushroom shots, windsurfers and Willie Nelson, then Nick showed us some incredible bird pictures and some really cool Browning Indian day shots.

It was nice for me to have Mike Spence take me back to Wolverine Lake, a place I haven't been in awhile and won't be again anytime soon. My first trip back in the late 60's, we found an old cabin in a state of total disrepair. There was nothing usable about it, but it was still standing. My friend Jim Curtis and I started back packing things into the cabin that we could use to make it more livable. It took us several years but eventually we got it supplied with tables, chairs, iron frying pans, a bed, cook stove and other comforts of home. Not many people knew of it or went into the lake in those days. It was a longer hick then than it is now and a long drive over rough road to the trailhead. Most of the stuff we carried in stayed there and was well taken care of by other visitors. Occasionally we found that someone else had added something to make it a nicer place to visit.

One of the best reasons to visit the cabin was the 5lb Cutthroat that seemed to want to jump into our frying pan.

I have no idea what it's like now but if the cabin is still there it is probably because Jim and I spent so much time fixing it.

Camera Club Web Site

We are still asking for more members to contribute to the Club Web site. It is fun and inexpensive. Ask Adele for details. adele@digisys.net

Buffalo Hills Terrace

We still need more volunteers for the Monthly Buffalo Terrace Photo show. Please help; this is the only contact with the outside for many of these people and they really do appreciate our efforts. It's fun and easy so please contact me for more details.

Trevor Eagleton is signed up for September.
