Big News

From my point of view is that I am showing at the Hockaday starting September 7th until October 10th. Got some prints that you haven't seen and some that you have. Please come to the reception September 21st at 4PM if you want to here me talk about photography. 5 PM for viewing and food.

Minutes from August

Our Club really has become better with each meeting. Better if we judge from the quality and diversity of our pictures. Every month I think I've seen the best and then they get better. It is such a pleasure for me to be in the same room with so much talent. My notes are sketchy from our August meeting but it was so much fun I'm going to try and recap it for you. Bob traveled to Vancouver Island for some incredible flower, Starfish and Cedar pictures. Bruce shot jet RC airplanes and sailboats along with some nifty Park stuff.

Doug Dye really got me fired up with some really nice pics of places I have enjoyed hiking and hunting. I have spent weeks climbing around on Thunderbolt Mountain and have hunted both Elk and Goats there. My friend Cliff shot what was nearly a record goat on Thunderbolt. One horn was broken but the other one was 12 inches long. If I had a nickel for every pound of fish I've caught in Wolverine and Bluebird lakes I could buy all of us dinner.

Adele visited Colorado where I have not spent much time and then back to Elizabeth Lake where I have. Lyle Olson covered the Browning Pow Wow and did a real nice job. Mike Pinion did some great work in Germany and the Vatican.

Rex Short who just barely beat out a really good show and tell group to win the coveted title of "my favorite photographer" for August. He was everywhere and shot seals, birds, sand dunes and all with prize-winning flair. Thanks for some really nice stuff Rex.

Tom Mitchell was on a wildlife tear and did in a bunch of Deer, Pelicans, and Rocky Mt. Rams.

Jesse wins the "I traveled the farthest just to entertain you award" with his trip to Rushmore and all points in between.

We all need to thank Jesse for brining the world to our meetings and for the manner in which he runs them for us.

Camera Club Web Site

We are still asking for more members to contribute to the Club Web site. It is fun and inexpensive. Ask Adele for details. adele@digisys.net

Mike Spence has added some really good stuff to his part of the CC site and the new kid Rex Short has been added. Not only has Rex been added to the CC Site but he has got some extra neat pictures. If you have not looked at the site for a week or so you really need to look at Rex and Ginna Short. There are 10 members currently displaying their photography and we still can put more.

Buffalo Hills Terrace We still need more volunteers for the Monthly Buffalo Terrace Photo show. Please help; this is the only contact with the outside for many of these people and they really do appreciate our efforts. It's fun and easy so please contact me for more details.

Trevor Eagleton is signed up for September Please somebody help with October.

OTHER NEWS 2006 National Recreation Trails Photo Contest details at
http://www.americantrails.org/nationalrecreationtrails/photocon.html

American Trails is sponsoring the 2006 contest for photographs of National Recreation Trails across the country. Our second annual contest provides awards in several categories and shows off entries on the NRT Web site. The goal is to highlight the diversity of the NRTs and to make more Americans familiar with these great trails. We're looking for good photos of trail users as well as features of interest, signs, special facilities, management issues, construction, and volunteers. We also want to see entries that cover the many types of National Recreation Trails: greenways, backcountry hiking trails, water trails, motorized trails, rail trails, interpretive trails, historic routes, urban trails, and bicycling and horseback riding trails.

Photos of any designated National Recreation Trail are eligible For a list of designated National Recreation Trails, visit our website and check the on line searchable database that will let you see a list of NRTs in your state and provide more information on individual trails. If you're not sure if a trail is an NRT, or if you have questions about the contest, call American Trails at (530) 547-2060 or NRT@AmericanTrails.org. Entries will be displayed on the website at www.AmericanTrails.org/NationalRecreationTrails. Please limit entries to 10 photos per trail, and identify the NRT as well as any interesting features and the specific community or location.
