Next Meeting
Our next meeting will be at the Pin & Cue Bowling Alley in Whitefish, MT. at 6:30PM Thursday, September 8th, 2005.
Glacier Camera Club web site
By the time you are reading this I hope we will have made some significant changes to our web site. I recently wrote a long explanation of how I thought the site should work. Just as recently it all disappeared into thin air. Since I did not know what part of cyberspace it fluttered off to it was not retrievable and I was too tired to redo the whole thing. So I did not. The current changes we have made to the site may explain the whole thing better than I did.
What should happen when you key in www.glaciercameraclub.com is that you should get right to the camera club site. This is a bit different than before when you would get to Glacier Park Photography and then have to click on Camera Club. You will then find thumbnails from each member. Hopefully at least two members will be represented. You can then find any represented members work and other items related to camera club.
There were many questions concerning the club site, most of which I think this new format should answer. If you still have formatting questions please ask me at our September gathering.
The cost is still quit inexpensive. Adele and Trevon have informed me that they are working for $25.00 per hour. Adele may have offered a reduced rate for the next couple members who wish to display their work. Adele has been working to get the site higher or the pecking order of most search engines. As you all know the only expense to you is your initial fee for Adele or Trevon to post you to the site.
We tried an ad on Google for about a month. It really worked well. Our visits tripled. It was more money than I wanted to pay so the service was canceled. There are several ways to make it cheaper if we wanted to do it as a club. That is a matter to discuss after we have a more finished site.
The telescope guy
Scott Slack gave a short program about telescopes and how they work with or without camera's attached. It was interesting and informative, but I didn't rush out to buy one for my view camera.
Where have we been?
Joe the travelin man made a fantastic trip through Canada. His shots of Butchart Gardens were spectacular. He had some marvelous photos of birds and butterflies.
Steve was in the park photographing McD Creek and Betty Jo Malone traveled to the first capital of Montana for some historic photos of Bannack.
Kittie Deemer one of my newest favorite people in camera club showed some really nice pictures of my oldest favorite things, pretty girls. She brought lighthouse pictures too.
Jeff and Adele who's perspective on photography is far above all of the rest of us showed our members some very highly rated views we don't often get a chance to see. Keep up the good work.
Becca, the other half of the Steve and Becca duo brought for our viewing pleasure some of the best flower, barn and rodeo shots ever.
The score was slides one digital six.
Sandpiper Show
The Sandpiper show is over. You may pick your prints up anytime, but sooner is better than latter. Mary Sale thanked everyone for participating, she was very happy with the show.
Antique Engine & Tractor Show
The Tractor show will be September 10th and 11th from 10AM until 5PM on Sat. and 4PM on Sun. This is always a very entertaining show. Admission is $5.00.
Turn East off Hwy 2 at mile marker129.9 to Pioneer then 1/2 mile to Helena Flats Road.
Lacy Show
This is important news.
The 344 Gallery is opening The Lacy show September 15th at 5:30PM. We will have refreshments and some really good photos. There will be one and maybe two of Marion Lacy's tinted B&W photos. Photographs tinted with Marshall oils are among the most stable of all the color photography processes. It is a process that is relatively easy to learn and makes stunning large size prints.
